Built in the early 1900's the building was originally a seminary for young men looking to become Jesuit priests. It was shut down in 1969 due to diminishing enrollment. The Culinary Institute took over the building two years later.

Edward Everett was a wealthy man who built his mansion on these grounds between 1911-1914. He was married twice and had 5 children. When he died in 1929 his estimated worth was between $40-$50 million. The legend that students have passed down through the years is that Edward's first wife, Amy, committed suicide, and didn't die of poor health, which was reported.
